About

The Seidler Foundation is a private foundation, founded by the Seidler Family in 1984 and based in Des Moines, Iowa.

The Seidler Foundation creates opportunity for a meaningful life through supporting educational opportunity, arts and culture, and food insecurity programs.

Our mother, Evelyn Seidler, was an English teacher at Cedar Rapids Jefferson High School in the 1970s.  Our postsecondary scholarship program is an outgrowth of our mother’s love for education and the promise and talent she saw in her students.

Each year, the Seidler Foundation awards scholarships to 11th graders to attend a postsecondary institution of their choice (giving them time to prepare to be successful in their postsecondary education) and to 12th graders to enroll at Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Our family is dedicated to public education and to the Cedar Rapids community.  It is important to us to support others who will make our community and society stronger – students who will develop and use their talents in a meaningful way.

Funding Priorities

Food Insecurity
We support organizations that seek to alleviate childhood hunger by providing nourishment to children,  and who provide equitable access to food support for people in need.

Scholarships

We support students with financial need to complete postsecondary education.

Arts & Culture
We support selected organizations and projects, identified by the Foundation, that celebrate contributions to our communities and society via art and culture.
